Tissue Engineering in Dentistry

Course Description: Dental Biotechnology addresses the application of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine principles in biomimetically engineered bone, the design and characterization of intra- and extra-oral osseointegrated implants, the characterization of the bone-implant interface using destructive and non-destructive methods, as well as biomechanics and stress analysis. The course will provide a comprehensive overview of future applications of tissue engineering and computer-aided surgery in dentistry.

Objectives of the course :

• Discusses the general objectives and scientific background of tissue engineering
• Understands the fundamental concepts of designing osseointegrated implants in the mouth and surrounding tissues.
Defines the different characterization methods for the previously mentioned implants
