Health management

Course Description: Nanotechnology and its medical applications have led to the emergence of nanomedicine and nanodentistry. Nanodentistry will enable oral health maintenance through the use of nanomaterials, biotechnology, including tissue engineering and nanorobotics. Nanorobotic functions can be controlled by executing pre-programmed instructions to respond to local sensing stimuli. This course aims to introduce students to the current and future applications of nanotechnology in dentistry.
Credits: 1
Objectives of the course :

• Introduction to Nanotechnology, Nanodentistry, and Nanomedicine.
• The history of nanodentistry.
• Recognizing the applications of nanotechnology in dentistry, such as nanorods, nanofibers, nanospheres, and nanometers.
• Understand the fundamental information in dental materials at a molecular level.
• Identifying new tools and techniques to increase product efficiency. .
• Recognize the uses of nanotechnology in dental restoration, such as nanocomposites.

Course outputs :

• Discussing how to achieve oral anesthesia in nanodentistry.
• Understanding the clinical implications of nanodentistry in orthodontics.
• Recognizing treatment opportunities in nanodentistry, including tooth repair.
• Defining the role of nano-toothpaste (dentifrobots) as an oral preventive measure.
Understanding the clinical applications of nanotechnology in cosmetic dentistry.
