Course Description: This course introduces students to the field of conservative dentistry and periodontics. The course will focus on maintaining manual dexterity concerning grasp techniques, cavity preparation, and dental filling materials, as well as the techniques used. Simulating the human head will allow students to apply these approaches clinically on patients.

Prerequisites: DENT 131
Objectives of the course :

By the end of this course, the student should be able to:
• Identification of instruments and methods used in the drilling and filling of posterior teeth, and in tooth cleaning and root canal preparation.
Drilling work for classification #1, #2 for posterior teeth
• Perform amalgam fillings for these cavities
• Excavation for Class 3 and Class 4 restorations on anterior teeth

Course outputs :

• Perform composite fillings for these cavities
• Identifying the tools used in treating gum disease
• Perform all these steps at the clinic
