Research Methods in Education

Course Description: The course provides an introduction to the concept of science and scientific research in social sciences. It reviews the components of a research plan in educational sciences, sources for selecting research problems, and their criteria. The course also covers the most prominent research methodologies in education, including descriptive, experimental, and historical methods, as well as future studies. The course includes practical topics such as sampling, data collection tools, evaluation of educational research, in addition to the basic principles of writing academic theses.

Objectives of the course :

The objective of teaching this course is to help the student to:

• Understanding of the concept of science, its characteristics, and its relationship to scientific research methods.
• Identifies the most essential elements of scientific research.
• Explains the most important basic components of a research plan in curricula and teaching methods.
• Differentiates between various research methodologies in the field of curricula and teaching methods.
• Explains the most important main roles of data collection in educational research.
• Conducts some research in the field of curricula and teaching methods.

• Identifies various sampling methods in curriculum and teaching methods research.
• Differentiates between scientific research in the field of curricula and in the field of natural sciences.
