Course Description: This course introduces students to major therapeutic diets based on modifications of the normal diet, providing an in-depth understanding of medical nutrition therapy for conditions such as fever, infections, gastrointestinal diseases, liver cirrhosis, kidney, and pancreas diseases.

Prerequisites: CNUT334
Objectives of the course :

The main objective of this course is to enable students to apply medical nutritional therapy in the management of fever, infections, and diseases of the gastrointestinal, hepatobiliary, renal, and pancreatic systems.

Course outputs :

1. Identify the fundamental concepts of medical nutritional therapy as it relates to the gastrointestinal, hepatic, and renal systems.
2. Explain how nutrient metabolism is organized in the body in metabolic disorders.
3. Ability to assess and plan appropriate medical nutritional therapy for digestive, hepatic, and renal conditions.
4. Developing nutritional interventions for metabolic disorders.
5. Application of ethnically and religiously appropriate medical nutritional therapy for non-chronic diseases.
