Course Description: Theoretical: Introduction - Enzymes - Bioenergetics - Metabolic pathways of carbohydrates, proteins, and lipids. Synthesis of glycogen, cholesterol, triglycerides, urea, uric acid, and protein. Body fluids and excretion of metabolic waste - Vitamins and trace minerals. Practical: Determination of the activity of some enzymes and metabolic compounds indicative of nutritional status in blood and urine, and signs of deficiency or excess.
