Course Description: This course covers the internal medicine curriculum and is structured around general and specific behavioral objectives. It integrates basic sciences with clinical sciences and diagnostic and management skills. The content addresses emergency and common conditions. It outlines the objectives students are expected to achieve, varying in importance for the general practitioner. This variation is indicated by the priority level assigned in parentheses at the end of each objective. The content is divided into basic clinical skills, and diseases of the cardiovascular, respiratory, gastrointestinal, renal, hematological, musculoskeletal, and rheumatological systems, as well as neurology, tropical, and microbial diseases.

Objectives of the course :

Display responsible and compassionate behavior with the patient and family, taking into account cultural, social, and economic backgrounds, and when interacting with all educational levels and abilities.
Mastering the communication skills required for taking an appropriate medical history and physical examination.
3. Appraise the role of basic sciences (anatomy, physiology, and biochemistry) and relevant underlying pathophysiological processes in the diagnosis and management of common diseases in patients and the community.
4. Recognize the epidemic profile of the population and community, their heritage, and their cultural, social, geographic, and economic characteristics, and the relationship between all of these and the causes and treatment of medical diseases.
5. Possess the necessary knowledge and skills to identify and manage a patient's health problems: emergencies, common endemic or epidemic diseases, and disabilities, including health promotion, prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and follow-up.
6. The optimal selection of the most appropriate and cost-effective examinations to reach the correct diagnosis, taking into account patient rights, capabilities, and healthcare system capacities.
7. Interact effectively with the health team (and appreciate the role of others) in providing medical services.
8. Continuous independent learning and pursuing graduate studies

1- Identifying the different types of internal medicine diseases and describing their mechanisms and clinical manifestations.
2- Description of the principles for managing common and serious conditions in internal medicine.
