Course Description: This course addresses the definition of basic concepts of complementary and alternative medicine, understanding the role of complementary and alternative medicine in the healing process through practical application of theoretical knowledge, and understanding the available evidence regarding the safety and efficacy of complementary and alternative medicine.

Objectives of the course :

1. Introduce students to the different types of complementary and alternative medicine found globally and in Saudi Arabia.
Educate students on the safety and efficacy of different types of complementary and alternative medicine preferred by patients in Saudi Arabia.
3. Guiding students on various types of healthcare systems evolving globally.

Course outputs :

• Students will gain knowledge about complementary and alternative medicine systems found globally and specifically in Saudi Arabia, with their relevance to public health.
• The ability to understand the causes of diseases, pathology, and management strategies in identifying solutions for disease control problems using alternative medicine.
