Community health

Course Description: Community health science focuses on population health. This course will cover a wide range of community health issues, focusing on strategies for improving population health, with an emphasis on assessing community health needs, the community health improvement process, disease prevention, and health promotion.
Credit hours: 4
Prerequisites: BPH 212
Objectives of the course :

1. Identifying social and cultural factors associated with health, including: education, geographic location, housing, and social environment.
2. Explain the steps and methods for assessing community health needs.
Description of community health improvement processes.
4. Defining epidemiological indicators to measure the burden of diseases in the community.
5. Definition of important community health indicators in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
6. Identifying priority issues in community health and how to improve the current situation.

Course outputs :

• Explain the fundamental concepts of community health, including assessing community health needs, causes and consequences of prevalent health behaviors, social determinants of health, and indicators for measuring community health.
• Use appropriate data management systems to assess community health needs; and indicators to assess the community's health status.
Engage in effective teamwork and communication, fostering collaboration and involving diverse stakeholders in assessing community health needs.
