Critical approaches and issues

Course Description: This course traces these approaches in Western thought and reveals how Arab critics in the Arab world in general, and in Saudi Arabia in particular, have received these approaches, and the extent to which they have been represented and utilized in the analysis of literary texts. It focuses on the practical aspect that allows the student to practice practical criticism and use these approaches in engaging with various types of literary texts.

Objectives of the course :

Assist the student in forming a knowledge base in the field of criticism.
Raising the student's quality to confront the controversy surrounding old and new critical concepts and theories. .
Assist the student in identifying modern and contemporary critical approaches, their convergences, and divergences. .
