Course Description: The origins of comparative literature in the West and the Arab world. The French and American schools: critique and comparison. Comparative literature: areas of research and methodologies. Qualifications for research in comparative literature.

Objectives of the course :
  • Connecting the student to their literary and civilizational heritage and deepening their knowledge of other literatures.
  •  Developing students' abilities to recognize the history of their nation and to understand the influence and impact between literatures.
  •  Enable exposure to literary genres in world literature.
  • Deepen students' appreciation and pride in the Arabic language and literature, and foster an understanding of its heritage and influence on other literatures.
  • Reinforce adherence to the noble values and ideals inherent in the history of world literature, and consequently, reject negative values.
  • Refine students' creative talents by highlighting influence and being influenced in literary genres.
