Objectives of the course :

The student acquires fundamental knowledge of linguistics and its theoretical terminology, as well as its linguistic levels, according to the applied aspect of this science, as one of the humanities in the modern era.

  • The student will understand the concept of linguistics and its history.
  • The student enumerates the branches of linguistics.
  • The student shall mention structuralist theories, their origins and branches.

  • The student distinguishes between traditional linguistic study and modern linguistics.

  • To compare different linguistic theories.
  • To distinguish between different linguistic approaches.
