Course Description: Definition of 'Ilm al-Badī' (the science of rhetorical embellishment), its subject matter, status, objectives, and topics. Details of each topic and its aesthetic values.

Objectives of the course :

The student should understand the details of each topic and its aesthetic values, and employ all of this to reveal the aesthetic values of rhetorical devices, in both their forms, and to enhance their expressions with the appropriate rhetorical devices for each construction. They should also be able to utilize this in the rhetorical analysis of creative texts, uncovering their aesthetic values. Introduction to Arabic rhetoric. A review of pre-Islamic rhetorical observations and Islam's stance on poetry, along with rhetorical observations and rhetorical awareness in Arab thought up to the 8th century. Features and components of Greek rhetoric. Knowledge of rhetorical devices and their artistic values, appreciating their aesthetic aspects, and acquiring practical skills in identifying rhetorical devices and explaining their artistic and aesthetic value in literary texts. .

The student should mention the history of Arabic rhetoric in general and the science of *badi'* in particular.
