Listening and comprehension skills

Course Description: (a) Follow up on new literature and research related to course content and update its description accordingly. (b) Periodically review the course description by the department's curriculum committee and faculty members who have taught it for development and improvement. (c) Develop the course based on faculty and student feedback from questionnaires they complete each semester. (d) Compare course content with similar courses in other local and regional departments. (e) Identify and address potential student difficulties. (f) Utilize modern technological tools such as PowerPoint and computers to present course content.

Objectives of the course :

- Enabling the student with the fundamentals and skills of listening and comprehension.
– Acclimating the ear to Arabic sounds and movements and distinguishing between them, and understanding different phonetic phenomena.
– Capture main ideas and distinguish them from secondary ideas.
– Guess general and specific meanings through context and the speaker's rhythm, and try to find semantic links between parts of what is heard.
