Contemporary Currents of Thought

Course Description: In this course, the student will become acquainted with intellectual currents in the Islamic and Western worlds, the commonalities between them, and the perspectives of each.

Credits: 2

Objectives of the course :

The student will become familiar with intellectual currents, their emergence, and their perspectives on humanity, the world, and reason, and critically evaluate them from an Islamic viewpoint.

Course outputs :

Knowledge and understanding:
1. To identify contemporary intellectual currents.
2. To learn the intellectual foundations upon which intellectual currents were based.
3 - To know the difference between the Islamic and Western visions of the world, humanity, and reason.
Skills:
1. To master the processing of ideas from intellectual currents.
2. To be proficient in interpreting texts on intellectual issues.
3. To improve the comparison of negative and positive aspects in intellectual currents.
Analyze texts related to contemporary thought.
Values, responsibility and independence:
1. To adhere to Islamic values in discussing an opponent.
2. The student must possess Islamic morals, etiquette and skills for dealing with those who hold different views, and professional ethics.
