Course Description: Understanding Islamic sects and their creedal views in light of the creed of Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama'ah.
Credit hours: 3
Objectives of the course :

– Sound scientific knowledge of Islamic sects, by understanding their origins, methodologies, and the doctrinal views of their adherents.
– Identifying the differences between these theological schools and Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama'ah.
Developing the student's skill in understanding, evaluating, and dialoguing with theological orientations that differ from the creed of Ahl al-Sunnah.
– Identifying foreign sources that bolstered this trend in the Islamic world.
– The student realizes the reasons that led to the disputes among Muslims.
– Clarification of the negative effects of these theological schools on Muslims, and a statement of the aspects in which these negative aspects manifested.

Course outputs :

Knowledge and understanding:
1- Identifying the Islamic sects, the reasons for their emergence, and the methodologies they use in studying creed.
2. Knowing the causes of deviation in groups that contravene the methodology of the Salaf.
3. Recognizing the negative aspects these groups have left on the unity of Muslims.
4- Understanding the points of agreement and disagreement between these groups and the Salaf.

1- The scientific understanding of the Salaf's comprehension of the Holy Quran and the Noble Sunnah's dominance over other types of understanding held by these groups.
2. The skill of being able to connect opposing viewpoints with the environments in which they emerged and how much they were influenced by those environments.
