Course Description: Understanding the doctrine of divine decree and destiny and its related matters within the creed of Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama'ah.
Credit hours: 3
Prerequisites: AGDH254
Objectives of the course :

– Clarifying the reality of belief in divine decree and its levels, the doctrine of Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama'ah regarding destiny and divine decree, and manifestations of deviation in this regard.
- Understanding matters of faith according to the methodology of Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jama'ah, and manifestations of deviation in that.
– Knowledge of issues related to a perpetrator of major sins, atonement according to the methodology of Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama'ah, and manifestations of deviation in that.
– Knowledge of issues related to the Companions, the Ahl al-Bayt, and the Rightly Guided Caliphs, as well as issues related to the Great Imamate and the rights of those in authority, according to the methodology of Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama'ah, and manifestations of deviation therein.
- Understanding issues related to the community, its necessity, and the importance of adhering to it, and the prohibition and danger of division, as well as issues related to leadership, its conditions, ranks, and benefits.

Course outputs :

Knowledge and understanding:
1. For the student to become acquainted with the correct creed and the manifestations of deviation in matters of divine decree and destiny, issues related to faith, the grave sinner, issues of disbelief and excommunication, issues concerning the companions and the Prophet's household, the supreme caliphate, and the rights of the ruler.
2- The student should gain a thorough understanding of each chapter of creed.
Skills:
1. The student explains doctrinal issues.
2. The student will be able to explain difficult terms in theology.
Students infer the meanings of doctrinal terms by discussing and communicating positively with each other.
Ability to work within a team and foster a spirit of teamwork.

The meaning of taking the covenant and its evidence, and refuting those who differ in this regard. The Ruling on Citing Divine Decree as an Excuse, Evidence for What is Permissible and What is Forbidden, and the Fruits of Faith in Divine Decree and Destiny.
The meaning of faith when stated generally and when qualified, with evidence. Also, the inclusion of deeds in the definition of faith according to Ahlus Sunnah and their evidence.
The doctrines of the Murji'ah and the Wa'idiyyah regarding the definition of faith, their critique, the relationship between Islam, faith, and Ihsan, and the differences between them, the meaning of the increase and decrease of faith, and the evidences for that, the reasons for the increase and decrease of faith, and the differentiation of its adherents in it.
The meaning of exception in faith and its ruling, the effects of faith on the individual and society, the criterion for both minor and major sins and the differences between them, and the ruling on the one who commits a major sin, with a response to opponents, the effect of major sins on the name of faith and its ruling.
The meaning of disbelief (Kufr), its types, the criteria for each type and its evidence, the gravity of excommunication (Takfir), its criteria, conditions, and impediments, and the warning against deviation in issues of excommunication.
The difference between absolute excommunication and specific excommunication, focusing on some contemporary cases of specific excommunication and distinguishing between them. These include: ruling by other than what Allah has revealed, allying with disbelievers, mocking religion, the meaning of hypocrisy and its types and ruling on each, the concept of innovation (bid'ah) and its types and rulings, and warning against deviation in matters of declaring someone an innovator.
