Course Description: This course covers the nature of accounting information systems, including the design, operation, and evaluation of accounting systems and their appropriate control procedures. This is based on the core operations within an organization to ensure all financial reports are prepared in accordance with accounting standards and management needs. It also addresses the use of modern technologies in building and developing accounting information systems within the framework of multiple databases.
Credit hours: 3
Prerequisites: ACCT231
Objectives of the course :

Upon completion of this course, it is expected that the student will be able to do the following:
Explains the concept of accounting information systems.
• Identifies the various components and characteristics of accounting information systems.
• Creates diagrams and maps used in the analysis and documentation of accounting information systems.
Documents accounting information systems using a computer (Visio program).
• Differentiate between relational databases, their features, and other types of databases.
The Entity-Relationship Model is used for database design.
Develops an accounting database using Ms Access
• Works with relational databases through a database management system
