Advanced Endodontics Symposium

Course Description: In these weekly seminars, each student or group of students will be responsible for summarizing and reporting on recently published articles and research in the field of endodontics from high-impact specialized journals and books. The focus will be on critical analysis and evaluation of the merits of the information. All students are required to prepare to discuss the assigned topic in detail during the seminar. They are also expected to refer to any previously published articles that may be cited in the selected article for critical analysis and discussion. Furthermore, they are expected to compare the articles to be discussed with research discussed in previous courses. They should explore the topic in depth, transitioning from passive listening to active participation through questioning, discussion, and problem-solving. They are also expected to discuss paradigm shifts in endodontics, including the past, present, and future.

Objectives of the course :

This course will enable students to critically analyze established facts from the past, compare them with current knowledge, and identify future scope that may help bridge the gap between research and clinical practice.

Course outputs :

The student will be able to demonstrate significant and advanced knowledge and understanding of specialized theories, principles, and leading concepts in endodontics, related biomedical sciences, and other dental specialties.
The student will be able to demonstrate advanced knowledge in conducting and evaluating original research and scientific activities, keeping up with modern professional and technological developments, and emerging issues.
The student will be able to develop critical reading skills related to endodontic literature. The student will also be able to employ skills in identifying complexities in research and develop a problem-solving attitude with creative thinking.
The student will be able to critically analyze selected articles and topics constructively, and evaluate their scientific and clinical contributions to the field of endodontics and its principles. They will also be able to write a scientific summary of specific topics from various scientific sources.
The student will be integrated into various digital tools, which will appropriately enhance their academic performance. The student will be able to choose suitable digital technologies and platforms to enrich their academic knowledge.
The student will be able to communicate effectively in various oral and written forms with colleagues, peers, and superiors while discussing selected articles and statements, demonstrating their ability to work effectively in a team.
The student will be able to develop an independent stance toward knowledge, employing precise research methods and appropriate methodologies, applied with intellectual integrity and respect for ethical values.
