Dental Hospital (1)

Course Description: Students will be trained to treat patients by hospitalization at the University Hospital of Qassim University during the second half of their first, second, and third years. This includes surgical cases such as cleft lip and palate, and other cases requiring the intervention of related specialties, including maxillofacial surgery, orthodontics, pediatrics, pediatric dentistry, and speech therapy. Students will also follow the necessary protocol for patient admission to the hospital and its requirements prior to the necessary treatment. Students will treat healthy children who cannot be treated in a dental clinic due to their resistance to treatment, as well as emergency cases of complex dental fractures. They will identify suspected cases of child physical abuse and deal with them legally.

Objectives of the course :

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. Identifying and monitoring the problems complained about by the patient, and describing the diagnostic procedures and treatment plan for children with various disabilities.
2. Complete understanding of the properties and components of different medications, their side effects, how to prescribe medication, and determining dosages according to the patient's age, while adhering to legal and ethical methods, such as obtaining consent from the patient's guardian before starting treatment.
3. Developing clinical problem-solving skills based on information acquired from examination and imaging results to formulate treatment and diagnostic plans.
4. Resolving dilemmas and making decisions regarding different cases, providing justification based on the given information, and ensuring the patient's family accepts these solutions.
5. Demonstrate leadership, communication, and responsibility towards patients and their families, and always follow professional ethics and legal methods.
6. Acquiring the skill of communicating, taking opinions, and consulting with experienced consultants and doctors, and demonstrating sincerity, cooperation, and trust towards others within the scope of work.
