Course Description: The course addresses the theoretical and practical foundations of learning assessment and its relationship to curriculum and teaching. It begins by presenting the concept of assessment, its purposes, and its modern roles in the educational process. It then discusses the philosophy of assessment and its various types, such as diagnostic, formative, summative, authentic, self-assessment, and peer assessment. The course also focuses on employing assessment as a tool for learning and for the sake of learning, and addresses methods for assessing cognitive and non-cognitive learning outcomes. Furthermore, the course presents various assessment tools, such as observation, interviews, rubrics, portfolios, reflective journals, and electronic assessment, while training students on preparing and applying assessment tools in educational situations.
