Course Description: This course is designed to support postgraduate students in developing their research project and assist them in identifying research methodology regardless of their dental specialty. Students will be given a general introduction to postgraduate research, its methodologies, challenges, and organization. Students will be introduced to a range of research tools and will be equipped to plan and organize their research, as well as to link findings. Additionally, this course also aims to equip students with a range of skills to engage in the formulation of a research proposal; including formulating research questions, reviewing scientific literature, and selecting appropriate methodologies for different study types. Different ways researchers collect research data (e.g., interviews, questionnaires, and observations) will be included. This course paves the way for preparing the research that the student intends to undertake for their thesis (Doctor of Dental Science) as it covers both research methods and scientific writing.
