Course Description: This course aims to review and reinforce knowledge acquired from various integrated basic medical and dental science fields. It is designed to ensure that postgraduate dental students gain advanced knowledge in dental materials and pharmacology. This course will also enable postgraduate students to acquire practical skills in managing medically compromised patients to prevent medical emergencies and to use appropriate emergency supplies and equipment. The latest research information on these topics and current controversies will be discussed.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. Description of dental materials, their components, properties, applied surface phenomena, material failure, and biocompatibility
2. Retrieval of pharmacology basics, especially drug-drug interactions
3. Defining the rules of pharmacology in dentistry and the applications of topical therapeutic drugs.
4. Assessment of the general health status before surgery for dental patients
5. Identifying considerations and protocols for handling medically at-risk patients.
6. Understanding how to handle medical emergencies in dental clinics.
7. Identify the different local anesthetic agents, along with their precautions, components, contraindications, complications, and specific techniques.
