Advanced measurement methods and devices

Course Description: Advanced measurement techniques and instrumentation, system-level design, manufacturing, and evaluation, use of a wide range of tools/techniques, manufacturing/automation methods, theory and practice of linear and nonlinear system identification techniques.
Credit hours: 3
Objectives of the course :
  • Provide students with an advanced understanding of measurement fundamentals, including the limitations and possibilities specific to a number of selected measurement devices.
  • Introducing students to the experimental process used in the laboratory.
  • Ensure students know how to accurately design a measurement system, use it to collect necessary data, process and interpret the collected data, and accurately present the results.

  • Review and explanation of the basic concepts of statistics and probability, and uncertainty analysis, including their applications and limitations in various contexts.
  • Mathematical model identification of the measurement system.
  • Definition of different measurement techniques associated with each device.
