Dynamics of Mechanical Systems

Course Description: Introduction. Fundamental principles, equations of motion using Newton's laws, work-energy principle, simulation of dynamic systems, static kinematic analysis and time response analysis, principle of virtual work, potential energy principle, Lagrange's equations, Hamilton's principle.
Credit hours: 3
Objectives of the course :

• Present the fundamental principles of dynamics to students in an advanced and accurate manner.

• Teaching the use of simulation software (e.g., Simulink) for modeling and solving dynamics problems.

• Teaching the use of analytical methods in modeling and solving dynamics problems.

  • Describe the fundamental laws of dynamics applied to particles and multi-body systems.
  • Recalling Newton's laws and d'Alembert's principle.
