Issues and Problems in English Language Teaching Methods and Curriculum

Course Description: A course that discusses practical issues and problems facing the curriculum and methods of teaching English. It includes a study of effective teaching, curriculum problems at its three levels, teaching methods and approaches issues, learner attitude and disposition formation issues, measurement and evaluation issues, and an overview of recent research findings in teaching English. It also focuses on formulating research questions, identifying problem dimensions, developing hypotheses, and scientifically, psychologically, and practically verifying them.
Credit hours: 3
Objectives of the course :

After studying the course, the student should be able to:
1. Understanding the role of both the teacher and the student in effective teaching.
2. Identifying problems with English language curricula at its three stages.
3. Explanation of how student attitudes and inclinations are formed.
4. Constructing achievement tests in English.
5. Analysis of recent research findings in English language teaching.

Course outputs :

The ability to identify educational problems in English language teaching and analyze their causes.
• Formulate scientific questions and investigation methods to answer them.
• Define the dimensions of the problem and propose practical solutions for it.
• Formulating potential research hypotheses and verifying their scientific, psychological, and practical validity.
