Clinical Toxicology - 1

Course Description: This course aims to identify and characterize the toxic effects of important drug and therapeutic classes, as well as toxic plants and marine organisms, by elucidating their mechanisms at the cellular, biochemical, and molecular levels to develop integrated approaches for their prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.
Credits: 2
Objectives of the course :

Provide the student with the basic concepts of toxicology regarding the toxic effects of a number of important therapeutic drug classes, poisonous plants, and poisonous marine organisms.

Course outputs :

Knowledge and understanding:
• Outcome 1.1: Classification and characterization of complex toxic syndromes associated with therapeutic drugs, poisonous plants, and marine toxins.
• Learning Outcome 1.2: Evaluate molecular and biochemical mechanisms of toxicity to predict systemic pathological outcomes.
Your skills
• Outcome 2.1: Integrate theoretical knowledge and clinical data to formulate comprehensive, evidence-based treatment plans for patients with poisoning.
• Outcome 2.2: Critical evaluation of toxicokinetic parameters for predicting clinical progression and severity of acute poisoning.
Values, autonomy and responsibility:
• Outcome 3.1: Integrate ethical principles and clinical governance standards into the management of high-risk poisoning emergencies.
• Outcome 3.2: Effective leadership and communication within multidisciplinary healthcare teams for the coordination of toxicology rapid response protocols.
