Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. Acquiring knowledge, principles, and practical information related to toxicology.
2. Identifying basic analytical laboratory procedures in the field of clinical and forensic toxicology.
Knowledge and understanding:
• Outcome 1.1: Explain the fundamental principles of analytical toxicology and its applications in clinical and forensic settings.
• Outcome 1.2: Describe laboratory quality control (QC), quality assurance (QA), and accreditation requirements in toxicology laboratories.
• Outcome 1.3: Describe the principles of sampling, transport, storage, and preparation of samples for toxicological analysis.
• Learning Outcome 1.4: Define the analytical principles of commonly used techniques (Thin-Layer Chromatography (TLC), Spectrophotometry, Immunoassays, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR), and Point-of-Care tests).
Skills:
• Learning Outcome 2.1: Perform basic laboratory procedures for toxin extraction and qualitative screening under supervision.
• Outcome 2.2: Interpreting basic analytical results derived from spectrometric, chromatographic, and immunoassay techniques.
• Output 2.3: Implement a structured workflow for toxicological analysis, from sample receipt to result reporting.
