The Intensive Care course aims to provide the student with the following:
• Systematically collect and evaluate patient's personal and clinical information for all body systems.
Learn specific skills and questions for conducting medical interviews with patients to accurately collect personal data.
• Understanding the theoretical and practical aspects of medical information, including clinical examination and laboratory results.
• Utilize case study scenarios to compare normal and abnormal physiological functions and develop assessment skills for providing pharmaceutical care.
• Prepare practitioners well-versed in the fundamentals of medical scientific research, possessing leadership and teamwork skills.
• Maintain the highest standards of healthcare and perform essential examinations required in critical care medicine.
• Develop clinical practices based on an analysis of relevant clinical trials.
Knowledge and understanding:
• Outcome 1.1: Explain the scope of practice in intensive care units, principles of emergency care, and triage systems.
• Learning Outcome 1.2: Describe the physiological derangements, clinical manifestations, and initial management of major critical conditions such as myocardial infarction, shock, and respiratory failure.
• Outcome 1.3: Interpret results of non-invasive diagnostic tools such as electrocardiogram, chest X-ray, and echocardiogram.
• Outcome 1.4: Define principles of mechanical ventilation and monitoring of critically ill patients.
Skills:
• Outcome 2.1: Assess and prioritize critically ill patients using systematic clinical assessment and triage principles.
• Outcome 2.2: Interpret clinical data including vital signs, ECG, blood gases, and laboratory results.
• Outcome 2.3: Formulate evidence-based preliminary management plans for emergency and critical care situations.
• Outcome 2.4: Monitor circulatory status, oxygen levels, and acid-base balance in simulated environments.
