Medical Ultrasound Imaging

Course Description: This course covers an introduction to the medical indications and justifications for ultrasound examinations, patient preparation, and selection of the appropriate transducer for each examination. It also provides a comprehensive explanation of most ultrasound examinations, such as examinations of the abdomen, pelvis, urinary system, liver, spleen, pancreas, gallbladder, abdominal cavity, blood vessels, thyroid gland, testicles, breasts, and the jugular veins of the head and neck, as well as some Doppler examinations.

Prerequisites: RAD 373
Objectives of the course :

• Gaining theoretical and practical knowledge of ultrasound medical imaging.
Understand the terminology and techniques of ultrasound imaging.
• Identify routine and alternative procedures and positions used in ultrasound imaging.
Learn the skills needed to evaluate an image.
Understand the quality procedures for an ultrasound device.

• Recognize the clinical indications for abdominal, pelvic, small parts, and various ultrasound equipment imaging.
• Identify the different types of ultrasound procedures and common examinations in the clinical setting.

• Description of duties and responsibilities for Ultrasound Technologist and Radiology Manager.
