Integrated drug therapy: Respiratory and Immunology

Course Description: This course aims to integrate the pathophysiological abnormalities of respiratory and immunological diseases with concepts of pharmacological effects and drug therapy approaches. State-of-the-art drug therapy will be reviewed, focusing on pathophysiology, pharmacology, pharmaceutics, and medicinal chemistry. Emphasis will be placed on selecting and designing an evidence-based, patient-specific drug therapy regimen, monitoring treatment, patient education, and counseling to achieve therapeutic efficacy, optimal drug use, and avoid any undesirable side effects.

Objectives of the course :

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. Description of the pathophysiological processes of respiratory and immune system diseases
2. Explanation of pharmacotherapy used in the treatment of respiratory and immune system diseases.
3. Elucidation of the structural properties and activity relationships of drugs used in the treatment of respiratory and immune system diseases.
4. Pharmacokinetics of drugs used to treat respiratory and immune system diseases.
5. Describe evidence-based treatment guidelines for respiratory and immune system diseases.
