Plant Physiology

Course Description: This course deals with the study of plant physiology, focusing on the fundamental biological processes that control plant growth and functions. The course includes a study of water properties and its importance to plants, and water relations within the plant cell, such as diffusion, osmosis, and permeability, in addition to mechanisms of water absorption and transport within the plant, and the process of transpiration and factors affecting it. The course also addresses the process of photosynthesis (light and dark reactions) and factors affecting it, the role of enzymes in biochemical reactions, and plant mineral nutrition and its importance in growth and development. The course includes a practical component focusing on conducting laboratory experiments and analyzing their results to interpret physiological processes in plants.

Objectives of the course :

This course aims to enable the student to:

 

Explanation of the basic concepts of plant physiology and their application to plant cell functions.
Description of water absorption and translocation mechanisms within plants.
