Foundations of Pharmacy Practice (3)

Course Description: This course aims to provide students with modern knowledge and skills related to drug orders and prescriptions (electronic, computer-printed, and handwritten), best practices for dispensing medications and related calculations, drug labeling, and patient education and counseling. The course also introduces students to aseptic techniques and the intravenous admixture program, concepts related to immediate drug compounding, and packaging and repackaging. Additionally, the course introduces students to controlled substance prescriptions, narcotics, and relevant laws and regulations, and investigational drugs in healthcare systems.

Objectives of the course :

This course aims to introduce students to:
1. Medical prescriptions and medication orders.
2. Medication expenses and related calculations.
3. Affixing labels to medications.
4. Educating and advising patients.
5. Aseptic techniques and IV solution preparation program.
6. Concepts related to the immediate preparation of medications.
7. Packaging and repackaging of medicines.
8. Concepts related to experimental drugs and their role in healthcare systems.
9. Dispense controlled substances and narcotics in accordance with laws and regulations.
