Foundations of Pharmacy Practice (2)

Course Description: This course aims to equip students with contemporary knowledge and skills related to medication orders and prescriptions (electronic, computer-generated, and handwritten), best practices for medication dispensing and associated calculations, medication labeling, and patient education/counseling. The course will also introduce students to aseptic technique, the intravenous admixture program, as well as concepts related to extemporaneous pharmaceutical preparations, and drug packaging and repackaging. Furthermore, the course will familiarize students with prescriptions for controlled substances and narcotics, relevant laws and regulations, as well as investigational drugs (clinical trials) in healthcare systems.
