Pharmaceutical Analytical Chemistry

Course Description: This course covers chemical analysis methods with a focus on volumetric analysis, as well as physicochemical analysis methods, represented by spectroscopic instrumental analysis methods. The course also addresses the principles and applications of each method, its laws or principles of operation, related calculations, its advantages, and its limitations (disadvantages). More attention will be given to its applications in the field of pharmaceutical analysis.

Prerequisites: 111 PHC
Objectives of the course :

• Understanding analytical methods and tools, analytical quality control, method validation, and statistical concepts in pharmaceutical analytical chemistry.
Understanding the theoretical and practical aspects of acids, bases, pH, buffers, titrations, and different types of volumetric analysis.
Understanding spectroscopic methods used in pharmaceutical material analysis.
Understand chromatography techniques used in the purification of pharmaceutical substances.

Course outputs :

• Understanding volumetric analysis, spectroanalysis, and chromatography methods, along with their instrumentation used in pharmaceutical analysis, in addition to the theoretical and practical aspects of acids, bases, pH, acid dissociation constant, and buffer solutions in sample analysis.
Employing and evaluating spectral and chromatographic techniques in sample analysis.
