An Overview
The Department of Information Technology was established in the academic year 1426 AH corresponding to 2005 AD to cover the needs of various sectors in the Kingdom in this specialization and to prepare the necessary qualifications and expertise. The department aspires to prepare the student to be a specialist in the field of information technology; the curricula aim to prepare him for the labor market and provide him with the necessary knowledge and expertise in the field of information technology so that the graduate will be able to work in the public and private sectors: Government and private sectors, in addition to being able to work in universities, educational institutions, internet communication companies, and organizations related to this field. The department offers one program at the bachelor's level and three master's programs in the following disciplines: Bachelor of Information Technology, Master of Science in Information Technology, Master of Science in Cybersecurity, and Master of Science in Data Science. The Department of Information Technology is characterized by the presence of an elite group of faculty members specialized in various research and academic fields, most notably: Software development, network management, cybersecurity, data analytics, web development, database management, IT project management, information systems management, and others. This diversity in the expertise of the faculty members is clearly reflected in the diversity of the graduation projects carried out by the students. The department periodically reviews the content and curriculum of its programs, and works with our partners in various sectors to update its programs to meet the needs of the labor market.
