The Ninth Qassim Forum for Dental Students, held at the College of Dentistry at the University's headquarters in Al-Malida, began its activities the day before yesterday by holding three workshops with the participation of a number of doctors, consultants, dental students, and those interested in this field, which included practical applications and television presentations of a number of cases that were discussed in these workshops.
The first workshop, titled "Fundamentals of Oral Surgery", was presented by Dr. Afnan Al Majid, Consultant of Maxillofacial Surgery at Prince Sultan Military Medical City, who talked about facial injuries and accidents, methods of suturing the mouth and stabilizing teeth after facial fracture injuries, and methods of dealing with such cases.
In the second workshop, Dr. Hazem Al-Tamimi, Consultant Dentist at the Security Forces Hospital, talked about the methods, basics and contraindications of using laughing gas and the cases in which it is used, as well as ways to calm dental patients with dentist phobia and how to deal with them.
The third workshop was titled "Higher Education in the United States of America," presented by Dr. Sultan Al-Shammari, a lecturer at Riyadh Colleges of Dentistry and Pharmacy, during which he addressed the methods and requirements for postgraduate studies in the field of dentistry, in addition to the programs available to complete postgraduate studies, and the basics of writing resumes for dental graduates.
At the end of the first day of the forum, a discussion was opened between the attendees and the speakers on the topics covered in the workshops, and the attendees asked a number of questions to the speakers, which revolved around the issues discussed in the field of dentistry and the latest advances in modern technologies in this field.
