His Royal Highness Prince Dr. Faisal bin Meshal bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Qassim Region, described the University Hospital at the University Medical City as a major medical edifice and a beacon for medical sciences, surgeries and treatment of patients not only in the Qassim region but in the whole country.

This came during His Highness's patronage, on Monday, 26/3/1443 A.H., of the opening ceremony of the surgical, operations, intensive care and endoscopy departments at the University Hospital in the Medical City of Qassim University. His Highness toured the new departments accompanied by HE Prof. Dr. Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al-Dawood, President of the University, and HE Dr. Majid bin Ibrahim Al-Fayyad, Executive General Supervisor of the King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center Foundation (KFSHRC).

His Highness the Amir of Qassim pointed out that the twinning of the hospital departments with one of the great medical edifices, King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center in Riyadh, is an achievement for this great university, praising the efforts of His Excellency the President of Qassim University who worked throughout the past years for the medical city to start performing its mission and mission, as we saw today the beginning of the start of these operations and operation of the university city.

His Highness expressed his pride in such achievements that confirm the support of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Highness the Crown Prince for everything that would affect the health of the citizen and resident, which we saw during the Corona pandemic and the way it was dealt with with high professionalism, as the Kingdom had the foremost hand to combat the pandemic by treating the citizen and resident, praising the role of health heroes after God in fighting this pandemic, and emphasizing that today we are witnessing a new team with health heroes, the medical staff in the University City, expressing his thanks to the supporters of the University Medical City and congratulating everyone on the operation of this medical edifice.

For his part, the UQU President said in his speech on this occasion: Our celebration today of this achievement, which cost nearly one billion riyals as the total cost of the medical city, hospital and outpatient clinics, which were equipped at the highest levels, was achieved by the grace of God, then through the unlimited support the university receives from our wise leadership, represented by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and His Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman - may God protect them - and the university receives from His Highness the Emir of Qassim Region and his Deputy, which had the greatest impact in achieving what has been accomplished.

Al-Dawood stressed that the university is almost the only university that has no stalled projects, as all its projects are about to be completed soon, pointing out that rented buildings are almost non-existent in the university, as there is only one rented building left, and it will be finished during the next semester, and then, God willing, we will celebrate the absence of any rented building. 

On this occasion, the UQU President extended his thanks and appreciation to His Excellency the Executive General Supervisor of King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center for his efforts and support in every possible way for the operation of this hospital, as well as to the Executive Director General of the Medical City and all employees of the Medical City for their efforts, as well as all members of the University Projects Committee and the Medical City Council.

The university hospital, which was inaugurated among 33 projects from Qassim University during the royal visit of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz - may God protect him - to the Qassim region, is located on a total area of more than 330 thousand square meters, with a capacity of 400 beds and a capacity that can be increased to 700 beds in the future, as it consists of three main buildings and six floors linked to the building of the Faculty of Medicine by two pedestrian bridges. The hospital also includes 16 operating rooms and 46 intensive care rooms equipped according to the latest international medical specifications and systems, in an independent building on an area estimated at 14,500 square meters. The outpatient clinics building was also established to be a tributary to the health care system in the university city, with up to 85 specialized clinics. 

The hospital also includes various dental clinics equipped with the latest technologies used to provide dental care, in addition to a radiology department, a sterilization department and a laboratory for prostheses, staffed by a group of specialists in the field and internship students at the Faculty of Dentistry, and for urgent cases, an emergency department was equipped The physiotherapy department consists of a physiotherapy department and an occupational therapy department equipped with 16 rehabilitation equipment and tools, in addition to two smart gyms and a hydrotherapy pool.

In addition to this, the central laboratory at the university hospital is equipped with an advanced linkage system called Pneumatic Transporter System (PST) that connects medical departments with vital departments and 54 stations for receiving and receiving samples, in addition to the blood bank that receives volunteers, and the central pharmacy is equipped with an automated dispensing system for patients that provides a 0% error rate service to provide treatment and save time and effort, thereby overcoming human error.
