Qassim University, the College of Engineering, represented by the Student Club, organized a scientific lecture on engineering applications in refineries and petrochemical plants with a focus on inspection methods, yesterday, Tuesday, 17/6/1441 AH, in cooperation with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers chapter at the college, presented by Engineer Mohammed Salem, a graduate of the university, in the presence of 40 students from different levels at the College of Engineering.
The lecture aimed to enable interaction and communication between students on the one hand and engineers working in these industrial fields on the other hand, and to give students the opportunity to learn directly from engineers working in these fields, and to make students aware of the history of the oil and gas industry in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as well as introducing students to the inspection methods used in the petrochemical industry, planning and cost estimation.
This student activity included a presentation on engineering applications in the petrochemical industry, and a mini-workshop on inspection methods in the industry in particular. The mini-workshop addressed the use of non-destructive testing devices in pipeline inspection, and the students were briefed on how to conduct the inspection, and how to estimate the inspection period and inspection costs for planning purposes.
During the lecture, Engineer Mohamed Salem shared his practical experiences and expertise accumulated over the years, and also took the opportunity to advise students on their studies and some tips on how to prepare for a career in the industry.
This student activity is one of the most important ways for students to learn first-hand about the inspection technology used in the petrochemical industry. Students had the opportunity to interact with an engineer working in the industry and received advice on how to prepare themselves for a better job opportunity.
