Deanship of Scientific Research holds "Research Excellence Awards" ceremony and honors winners with prizes of up to half a million riyals

On Tuesday, 11/8/1440 A.H., His Excellency Prof. Abdulrahman bin Hamad Al-Dawood, President of the University, sponsored the Research Excellence Awards Ceremony, held by the Deanship of Scientific Research at the University, at the Medical Clinics Theater in the University City, where His Excellency honored the winners of the Research Excellence Awards in a number of fields, which totaled 495 thousand riyals.

During his speech during the ceremony, the UQU President emphasized that these efforts exerted by the Deanship of Scientific Research or the university in general are not individual efforts, but rather the efforts of teams working through research centers and the University Vice Presidency for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, and that these efforts, God willing, are in the interest of the university and scientific research in particular, pointing out that nations will not develop except through scientific research.

Al-Dawood said: "We in the university administration, the university council and the Deanship of Scientific Research must stand with our colleagues, support them and facilitate research and publication methods, because many colleagues may finish their research but lack some experience in the publication process, and colleagues in the Deanship of Scientific Research will work to establish a specialized unit to help colleagues in publishing, and then after publication There will be a reward for the faculty member whose research is accepted and published in recognized journals. Colleagues in literary, legal and theoretical disciplines will be supported in their research, and the university will sponsor the publication and translation of outstanding research at its expense, not at the expense of the researcher, and the university will reward the researcher after the research is accepted and published."

The UQU President added that the university has the ability with its professors and all its employees to advance and excel, and reach, God willing, the highest level of publication, through fruitful cooperation between the University Vice Presidency for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, the Deanship of Scientific Research, research centers, colleges, fellow faculty members, and the university administration, indicating that this cooperation will result in the excellence of the university and will, God willing, be at the forefront of universities in terms of scientific publication, which is a major measure of the development and progress of the university and raises its level in all rankings.

He pointed out that scientific research and publication are at the forefront of the criteria of these rankings, expressing his optimism about the efforts of the colleagues at the deanship and their ability to achieve excellence with the support of the university administration, as the university will support this matter from its own will, pointing out that the UQU President is proud to be a member of this group and one of those who work within this team, thanking the staff of the deanship and all faculty members for their interaction and organization of this event, asking Allah to grant success and success to all of them. 

For his part, Dr. Mansour Al-Sharida, Dean of the Deanship of Scientific Research, affirmed that this award comes as a culmination of the research work at the university to upgrade the quality and abundance of scientific research, with the aim of encouraging the university's affiliates of researchers and motivating them to further excellence and scientific competition, giving them their right to be celebrated, honored and congratulated for receiving this award, pointing out that what increases the importance of this award at this particular stage is that it is consistent with the directions of the Saudi Vision 2030, as scientific research, innovation and creativity is one of the most important tools to implement the vision, which will lead to development, productivity and sustainability and contribute to economic development.

Al-Sharida pointed out that the university honored 33 researchers in this ceremony in several fields, and the value of all prizes offered amounted to 495 thousand riyals, stressing that scientific research is a major axis of the university and represents a strategic priority for it, so the Deanship of Scientific Research was keen to support and motivate researchers by developing supportive support units such as the statistical analysis unit, and soon, God willing, the linguistic and scientific review unit will be established in cooperation with Nature Publishing Group, as well as the translation unit to support the research process.

The Dean of Scientific Research added that the deanship seeks in the coming period to revitalize the scientific research movement for faculty members and push them towards more scientific excellence by launching several initiatives, including the financial reward for scientific publication in the ISA database, which will be supported by His Excellency the President of the University, to whom he is very grateful, pointing out that the deanship also seeks to develop the criteria for research excellence awards to include the "Research Excellence Awards" branch, namely; the distinguished researcher award, the distinguished research award, the distinguished department award, the distinguished college award, and the (innovation awards) branch, namely the distinguished innovation award, and JA Innovation Award, the distinguished innovation award, and JA Innovation Award.

He also thanked His Excellency the UQU President for sponsoring this ceremony and his continuous support, as well as His Excellency the UQU Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research for his constant efforts with the Deanship of Scientific Research, and all UQU vice presidents for their constant cooperation with the staff of the Deanship of Scientific Research.

Then, on the day of loyalty to excellence and its people, the UQU President honored the employee Khalid bin Mohammed Al-Tuwaijri, who passed away last week, as his brothers Saud and Suleiman received a shield in his honor.

The university president then honored the knights of excellence in the following fields: The award for the best research in the field of legal and literary sciences worth 50 thousand riyals, the award for the best research in the field of basic and agricultural sciences worth 50 thousand riyals, the award for the best research in the field of humanities and social sciences worth 50 thousand riyals, the award for the best research in the field of health sciences worth 50 thousand riyals, and the award for the best research in the field of engineering and computing sciences worth 50 thousand riyals, as well as handing over the awards in the field of the Golden Publication Award for five research papers and the value of each award of 15 thousand riyals, and the Silver Publication Award for eight research papers and the value of each award of 10 thousand riyals and the Bronze Publishing Award for fifteen research papers and the bronze publishing award for fifteen research papers.
