The College of Pharmacy at the University of Saudi Arabia will hold the second internship seminar from tomorrow, Tuesday, 14/2/14/14 A.H. until Friday, 17/2/14 A.H., at the medical clinics, which targets internship students as well as recent graduates in pharmacy colleges in the Kingdom, where 9 workshops and 15 lectures will be held with accredited hours from the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties.
The seminar covers a number of topics, including: planning and managing the internship year, skills required during training, professional basics in the pharmacy profession, extracting and dealing with patient information, the pharmacy practice exam, clinical residency and fellowship programs inside and outside the Kingdom, preparing to write a successful resume, preparing to pass the job interview, career future and options available to pharmacists in the public and private sectors, conducting and managing scientific research, and providing pharmaceutical consultations to patients, in addition to the skills of conducting and managing scientific research.
The symposium will also include a number of other specialized lectures and workshops, where more than 20 speakers from the College of Pharmacy at the University, King Abdulaziz Medical City at the National Guard, College of Pharmacy at King Saud University, King Khalid University Hospital in Riyadh, King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center, College of Pharmacy at King Saud University for Health Sciences at the National Guard, King Fahd Specialist Hospital in Buraidah, King Fahd Medical City in Riyadh, the Saudi Food and Drug Authority and the Pharmaceutical Companies Committee at the Chamber of Commerce in the Riyadh Region will cover these topics.
For his part, Dr. Abdulmajeed Al-Qasumi, Vice Dean of the College for Educational Affairs and Chairman of the Field Training Committee, explained that this year's symposium is characterized by the holding of a clinical skills and pharmaceutical consultation competition for pharmacy students with valuable prizes. This competition aims to encourage male and female students to develop their clinical skills, and also aims to enhance the concept of the pharmacist's role as an essential part of the medical team, indicating that this year the college will allow all students of pharmacy colleges in the Kingdom to register and benefit from the activities of the symposium.
It is worth mentioning that the college held the first internship course last year and achieved great success and many goals, as male and female students benefited from its various activities. The college intends to hold this seminar on an annual basis, while constantly seeking to develop it and present it in a different form every year to ensure that the desired benefit is achieved.
