Issues in Contemporary Thought

Course Description: A study of the most important contemporary intellectual trends and their impact on Muslim issues, as well as the relationship between contemporary thought in the Islamic world and contemporary global thought.

Credit hours: 3

Objectives of the course :

Introducing the student to the most important contemporary intellectual trends. .
Critique and evaluation of contemporary intellectual trends in light of Islamic doctrine.
Reveal the aspects of influence and the relationship between contemporary thought in the Islamic world and contemporary global thought.
Studying and analyzing some contemporary intellectual issues.
Uncover the ways these issues affect Muslims, and warn Muslims against them by explaining their objectives and danger to the beliefs of Muslims.
Qualifying the student to deal with and interact with intellectual issues from clear doctrinal standpoints.

The student should be aware of recent intellectual trends and issues in both the Western and Islamic worlds.
