Overview
The Department of Psychiatric, Mental and Community Health Nursing is one of the important academic pillars of the college, which is concerned with preparing qualified nursing cadres who possess the skills and knowledge necessary to provide comprehensive and integrated care targeting individuals, families and communities, with a focus on psychological, social and preventive aspects. The department provides an educational and training environment that enables students to apply the three levels of prevention: Primary prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation, thereby enhancing the quality of life and public health. It also contributes to raising community health awareness and enhancing effective partnerships between the college and the local community, in support of a comprehensive vision to improve mental health and community health.
Objectives :
1- Providing outstanding education in the field of community health nursing, achieving the highest quality standards.
2- Expanding the scope of practical training for the department's students in a variety of environments.
3- Enhancing the role of the department in community service and applied research to meet its health needs.
4- Raising the level of performance of female students in order to achieve the satisfaction of the beneficiaries of individuals, families and communities.
5- Building strong relationships with health service organizations locally and internationally.
6- Contribute to improving health behaviors and attitudes in the community.
Educational goals:
1- Preparing students capable of providing comprehensive nursing care in the fields of mental health and community health.
2- Developing communication and health education skills with individuals, families and communities.
3- Enabling students to apply the three levels of prevention (preventive, curative, and rehabilitative).
4- Supporting healthy behaviors and empowering target groups in the community to improve their health.
The department contributes to teaching a number of core courses within the bachelor's program plan, which include: Concepts of Mental Health, Community Health, and Epidemiology. It also supervises practical training in various health and community institutions, such as primary health care centers, schools, nursing homes, and mental health facilities, with the aim of enhancing field learning and linking the theoretical aspect with practical application. The department also participates in implementing awareness programs and educational workshops targeting various segments of society, in order to raise health awareness and contribute to improving the quality of life.
