Overview
The Department of Maternal and Child Health Nursing is one of the main academic departments in the college, and is concerned with preparing nursing students with the knowledge and skills needed to provide comprehensive and integrated health care for women and children. The department also contributes to the development of specialized scientific research in maternal and child health, through qualified academic staff who actively participate in the educational and research process, in order to enhance the quality of education and keep pace with developments in this vital field.
Objectives :
1- Preparing female graduates capable of providing comprehensive and safe nursing care for women and children.
2- Enhancing academic and professional competence in theoretical and practical aspects related to maternal and child health.
3- Supporting scientific research in maternal and child health nursing topics.
4- Expanding the department's participation in awareness and community service programs related to women's and children's health.
Educational goals:
1- Training students to conduct comprehensive health assessments for women and children at different stages of life and age.
2- Enabling students to provide specialized nursing care before, during and after childbirth, including normal and high-risk cases.
3- Enhancing students' ability to apply the principles of normal growth and development in children and identify potential deviations early.
The Department of Maternal and Child Health teaches core courses in the bachelor's program, including maternal and neonatal nursing and pediatric and adolescent nursing. The department focuses on integrating theory with practical application through training in simulation laboratories and clinical training in specialized hospitals to enhance students' clinical skills in realistic care environments. The department also encourages students to participate in community outreach activities, especially in the areas of child nutrition, care of pregnant women, and prevention of common pediatric diseases.
