The University, represented by the Department of Arabic Language and Literature, College of Arabic Language and Social Studies, held a scientific seminar entitled "Arabic Language and Artificial Intelligence" on the occasion of the World Arabic Language Day, which falls on December 18 of each year, on Wednesday, 21/4/1441 A.H. The seminar was held in the first scientific discussion hall in the college for male students, and for female students in the discussion hall in the College of Science and Arts in Al-Iskan neighborhood.
The meeting was moderated by Dr. Muhammad Al-Khuzaim, associate professor at the department, and two scientific papers were discussed. The first paper was presented by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Marayati, an expert in science and technology for sustainable development with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Riyadh, entitled: "The Arabic Language and Sustainable Development." It focused on the importance of the Arabic language in the knowledge economy and future bets in which the Arabic language can advance among the world's languages.
After that, Dr. Khalid Al-Maiman, Professor of Artificial Intelligence at Qassim University, presented the second paper, entitled: "The Arabic Language and Automated Processing." He talked about the automated processing of natural languages and the difficulties surrounding the Arabic language in the field of automated processing, and focused on the prospects that open up for the Arabic language in the future in the field of computing and artificial intelligence.
The Dean of the College, Dr. Ibrahim Al-Lahim, explained that the college is celebrating this occasion through this scientific symposium, which addresses two important aspects in the field of interest in the Arabic language, namely: The activities of the department to celebrate this occasion will also include holding an exhibition at Al-Othaim Mall in Buraydah tomorrow evening, Thursday, with cultural activities and competitions.
