The conference will be held under the distinguished patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Dr. Faisal bin Mishal bin Saud bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Governor of the Qassim region, on Wednesday, 2 Dhu al-Qi'dah 1446 AH, corresponding to April 30, 2025 AD, at the Qassim University Conference Center. The event will feature the participation of a select group of governmental and private entities, researchers, specialists, and those interested in linguistic and cultural affairs.<p>The conference is considered a scientific platform for discussing the relationship between language and identity in the modern Saudi context, and highlighting the vital role played by the Arabic language in building national belonging, strengthening social cohesion, and consolidating cultural values. It sheds light on the challenges facing this role in light of rapid changes, and reviews local and international experiences and initiatives that contribute to supporting the Arabic language, and linking it to public policies, institutions, and society.<\/p><p>The conference is scheduled to discuss a range of topics across three main scientific themes:\n\nTheme 1 will discuss the role of governmental and non-governmental actors in empowering the Arabic language through policies, legislation, and supportive initiatives.\n\nTheme 2 will address linguistic security and the threats to empowerment, with a focus on the impact of media, education, and society in preserving Standard Arabic and confronting hybrid languages.\n\nTheme 3 will focus on the role of language in strengthening national identity, by presenting international models and comparative experiences, in addition to the Saudi experience.<\/p><p>The conference is accompanied by the launch of the \"Arab Countries' Language Policies Data System\" project, which compiles over 1700 language policies from the twenty-two Arab countries. This initiative monitors the reality of the Arabic language, diagnoses its present, and forecasts its future. It also includes a two-day introductory exhibition to highlight efforts and initiatives in promoting the Arabic language and connecting it to identity. The exhibition offers participants the opportunity to learn about the academy's outputs and related national projects.<\/p><p>This conference highlights the pivotal role of Qassim University in serving the Arabic language through teaching and research, with specialized academic programs and scientific initiatives that contribute to the development of linguistic studies and the consolidation of national identity.
