Rescue teams have completed their search for missing persons following the collapse of the ceiling of the Qassim University conference center building, after recovering 9 bodies and 6 injured, bringing the total number trapped under the concrete debris to 15 workers.<\/p>

The university has mobilized all its capabilities and energies over the past few days since the tragic accident occurred. The university council directed the formation of an engineering committee, including members from the College of Engineering in Buraidah and Unaizah, as well as the Projects and Maintenance Department, to investigate the main cause of the collapse. This committee will submit its findings to the council urgently. Furthermore, the university administration directed university security to secure the collapse site at the conference center until the final investigations into the circumstances and causes of the incident are completed.<\/p>

University Vice President, Professor Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al-Omer, affirmed that the university administration and its affiliates were saddened by the collapse incident, with its resulting fatalities and injuries. However, God willing, this will not affect the progress of the university's construction projects. He pointed out that the conference building is one of more than a hundred and thirty projects at the university, efficiently supervised by the Projects and Maintenance Department, led by Engineer Suleiman bin Saleh Al-Faridi. He praised the interaction of His Highness the Governor of Al-Qassim Region and his direct supervision of the site upon learning of the incident, and his directive to form a five-member committee headed by His Highness, comprising the \u201dRegion's Emirate, the University, Civil Defense, Al-Qassim Municipality, and the Bureau of Investigation and Control,\u201d as well as another independent technical committee to study the causes and contributing factors.<\/p>

Dr. Al-Omar confirmed that the university, and project management specifically, despite using the best international methods in supervision and how its projects are managed, will be open and will re-evaluate its operational mechanisms in light of the study's results. He praised the interaction of the parties directly involved in the incident, foremost among them the Civil Defense, the Red Crescent, and the Health Affairs, as well as all governmental and private sectors. <\/p><\/p>
