{"id":16229,"date":"2015-05-10T19:28:17","date_gmt":"2015-05-10T16:28:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.qu.edu.sa\/blog\/uncategorized\/d_news-272\/"},"modified":"2015-05-10T19:28:17","modified_gmt":"2015-05-10T16:28:17","slug":"d_news-272","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.qu.edu.sa\/en\/d_news\/272\/","title":{"rendered":"Emphasizing the activation of the Kingdom's employment strategy and prioritizing females"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The workshop on measuring unemployment rates at Qassim University concludes its activities:<p><b>Emphasize the activation of the Kingdom's employment strategy and prioritize females.&nbsp;<\/b><\/p><p><b>Focusing on the public interest in official statistics and launching a long-term plan&nbsp;<\/b><\/p><p>&nbsp;<\/p><p>Media Center:<\/p><p>Participants recommended the workshop on measuring the unemployment rate, organized by Qassim University, represented by the College of Economics and Administration last Wednesday, under the title \u201dMeasuring the Unemployment Rate: Economic and Social Importance,\u201d under the patronage of His Excellency the University Rector, Professor Dr. Khalid bin Abdul Rahman Al-Hamoodi, and in the presence of<\/p><p>University Vice President Professor Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al-Omar, with the participation of a selection of specialists who recommended a number of important recommendations, represented by the importance of<\/p><div>Reducing the gap between official bodies and private sector institutions to find integrated supply and demand statistics to enable citizens to work<\/div><div>In addition to the necessity of emphasizing the activation of the employment strategy in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by focusing on achieving specific strategic goals and working to create real job opportunities.<\/div><div>The participants also emphasized the importance of developing a long-term workforce plan that attempts to link the outputs of educational and training systems with the needs of the Kingdom's labor market within the framework of a development plan that achieves alignment between education and training policies and Saudization policies, with the activation of the National Observatory for Statistics for the purpose of creating a comprehensive database, with the General Statistics and Information Authority becoming the official body for issuing official labor market data.<\/div><div>Priority should be given to females in employment fields and labor market needs, with the necessity of enacting regulatory legislation for them.<\/div><div>As well as educating members of society on the concept of unemployment and how to answer questions included in labor force surveys, with emphasis on changing their cultural outlook towards the positive value of work. In addition to paying attention to small and medium-sized enterprises and their role in creating new jobs, while seeking to establish development companies that offer new employment opportunities, and finding economic visions that take into account the structure and locality of the labor market in each region. Efforts must also be made to qualify human resources and enable them to innovate, so that the Saudi economy becomes competitive. We call on the Ministry of Labor to coordinate with the Council of Economic Development to emphasize that unemployment solutions will only be achieved through concerted efforts with other official bodies, especially the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, by developing advanced industries, electronics, and advanced services. Work should also be done to create a type of partnership between academic institutions, the private sector, and government institutions in implementing scientific studies and research on labor market issues in the Kingdom.<\/div><div>The workshop was inaugurated with a speech by Dr. Ali Al-Nodle, Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research at the College of Economics and Management. He thanked His Excellency the President of the University for sponsoring this workshop, as well as the university vice presidents and all participants for making this workshop a success. He emphasized that, based on the university's mission and values, its role extends beyond merely graduating students. Instead, it actively collaborates with other entities to employ a segment of the population dear to everyone. He noted that the university has consistently prioritized this matter and given it special importance, and pointed out that the workshop is a response to the university's mission, represented by the College of Economics and Management.<\/div><p>It is noted that the first session was titled \u201dUnemployment: Concept, Reality, and Challenges - An Analytical Study in the Kingdom (2010-2014)\u201d. It was chaired by Dr. Abdullah Al-Buraidi, a professor in the Business Administration Department at the College of Economics and Management. Dr. Ihsan Bu Hulaiga, an economic expert and former member of the Shura Council, and Dr. Moatsim Abdul Mola, an associate professor in the Economics and Finance Department at the College of Economics and Management, spoke during the session.<\/p><p>As for the second session, it was titled \u201dUnemployment Rate Indicators: Reliability and Appropriateness,\u201d and was chaired by Dr. Ahmed Saleh Al-Tuwaijri, Professor of Marketing at Buraydah Technical College. The speakers included Mohammed Fahad Al-Eissa, Director of the Ministry Branch at the Qassim Labor Office, Mr. Turki Hamad Al-Quraini from the General Authority for Statistics and Information, and Engineer Burjes Al-Burjes, a consultant on economic issues.<\/p><p>The third session was titled \u201dFuture Trends for Addressing Unemployment and Challenges\u201d and was moderated by Mr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Kabeer.
