The university, represented by the College of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, organized a remote scientific lecture on Tuesday, March 17, 1442 AH, titled \"The Tree is the Solution,\" presented by Professor Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Saqir. This took place concurrently with the launch of the sixth phase of the campaign initiated by His Royal Highness Prince Dr. Faisal bin Mishaal bin Saud bin Abdulaziz under the slogan \"Qassim Region is Green,\" with the participation of many entities in the region.
\"Al-Saqir\" reviewed during the lecture the comprehensive environmental renaissance witnessed by the Kingdom, in which trees and vegetation in general received special importance. This was represented in giant protection and afforestation projects, listing many examples, including the establishment of royal reserves, the Riyadh Green Project, the Qassim Green Land campaign, and the \"Let's Make It Green\" campaign. He emphasized that the Kingdom's Vision 2030 has set the framework for this environmental renaissance and affirmed it. <\/p>
The lecture addressed the importance of tree care and afforestation, which is justified considering their significant role in combating various pollutants, mitigating desertification and sandstorms, promoting biodiversity, humanizing cities, and enhancing quality of life, in addition to their other health, economic, and aesthetic benefits. Therefore, countries around the world are racing and competing in planting and caring for trees and expanding green spaces. <\/p>
Al-Saqer pointed out that the success of afforestation projects in the Kingdom requires the cooperation of the government, charitable, and private sectors, in addition to the necessity of benefiting from the growing societal awareness of the importance of trees and their vital role for humans and the environment by involving all segments of society in efforts to develop and preserve vegetation cover, given its utmost importance for public health, quality of life, and the environment.<\/p><\/p>
